Danfoss Drives Ensures Sustainable Luxury in the Heart of Sønderborg

Sustainable Luxury in the Heart of Sønderborg

The new Hotel Alsik, located in the heart of Sønderborg, has been top of Denmark's most sustainable hotels since its opening in May 2019, and has achieved 76% CO2 neutrality, thanks to Danfoss Drives' energy-efficient solutions.

Since the very first spade, the hotel has had a strong focus on sustainability. Energy-efficient solutions in the hotel rooms, building design and energy supply, as well as the 380 m2 solar cells on the roof, have helped to ensure high energy neutrality. The hotel is also built according to the BR2020 requirements, which means that the hotel already complied with the energy requirements that were in force in 2020. Thanks to good cooperation between Danfoss and Nordomatic, the project has been a CO2-neutral success with as much as 76% CO2 neutrality. Nordomatic is one of Denmark's leading companies in the development of intelligent building installations and has been responsible for the BMS system at the hotel in connection with hotel Alsik.

VLT® HVAC Drive FC 102 ensures central control and monitoring of all processes

Danfoss Drives' energy-efficient solutions are part of the hotel's ambition to become one of Denmark's most sustainable luxury hotels. Among other things, the hotel has 10 ventilation systems that ensure clean and fresh air every day. The plants run 24 hours a day throughout the year and are therefore optimised according to low operating and maintenance costs. Here Danfoss Drives' VLT® HVAC Drive FC 102 is the perfect choice to realize the low cost of ownership. The drive ensures an energy-efficient solution and allows central control and monitoring of all processes.

In addition to the VLT® HVAC Drive FC 102, the hotel also uses the new VLT® Pressure Transmitter PTU 025 pressure transmitter unit from Danfoss, which monitors air filter soil and air flow over the fans.

"We can retrieve the values via BACnet and since this unit has 4 pressure transmitters, it has created a saving of three pressure sensors including cabling per plant", says Jacob Haulrich, Regional Manager at Nordomatic.

Danfoss Drives' PTU 025 pressure transmitter also has the advantage of providing early warnings via the built-in filter monitoring to avoid clogged filters, a poor indoor climate and unnecessary energy consumption – and it is even easy to install.
