Artemide’s Scopas at V&A Dundee Museum

V&A Dundee Museum - Scopas Lamp - Scottish Design Galleries

Artemide - V&A Dundee Museum

Scopas, designed by Neil Poulton, will be presented with an interactive installation in the Scottish Design Galleries of the new V&A Dundee, the first Scottish museum dedicated to design, which  opened to the public on September 15th 2018.

The new museum designed by Kengo Kuma and Associates, will explore the many unique features in the history of Scottish design.

Scopas consists of a luminous sphere with an incomplete structure. Continuously changing its appearance, depending on the point of view from which you look at it, it radically breaks the mould of pure and sometimes monotonous forms that normally characterize this type of lamp. Like the Death Star of the Empire in Star Wars, immobile in space, her unfinished appearance is the opposite of her perfect technical efficiency.

Winner of numerous awards including Red Dot Award 2013, IDA Award 2017 (Silver), EPDA Award 2017 (Silver).
