Roxtec UK - Safety Seal Manufacturer Roxtec Appoints Process Manager in Response to Growth

Cable and pipe seal manufacturer Roxtec UK has appointed a process manager to spearhead the company’s growth in this sector. Ross Mannin joins Greater Manchester-based Roxtec UK from another well-known international manufacturer and will cover an area stretching from Scotland to the South West. His appointment has come after the international business, which has its UK headquarters in Bury, saw continued growth in the power and process industries markets, which are key in the company’s long-term strategy.

Roxtec’s cable and pipe seals are found widely in the process industries, including mining and metals, the onshore oil, gas and petrochemical sectors as well as pulp and paper plants. Its cable entry seals are ideal for field-based terminal boxes, electric heat trace cabinets, remote I/O cabinets, DCS/PLC cabinets and other high cable density applications in harsh environments.

Ross said: “Before I arrived, I knew that Roxtec was a progressive company with a good reputation for being highly professional and a proven product of a world-class standard. Roxtec is the market leader in the field, which speaks for itself – there’s no other system like it. Roxtec has a strong ethos for engineering excellence and I was very impressed by its growth plans outlined by Clive Sharp, the managing director. The fact that this is a new role, and the potential for me to help drive the business forward, is really exciting and I cannot wait to get out there to support Roxtec’s customers.”

Ross said his role would encompass getting to know oil and gas customers from Grangemouth Refinery in Falkirk to customers in Plymouth and the rest of the southern region. Roxtec’s cable and pipe seals are used to protect people and assets from multiple hazards including fire, flooding, the risk of explosion and electromagnetic disturbances. Key benefits include durability, reliability and flexibility. Ross said he saw huge potential in the process industries for Roxtec’s innovative solution.

He said: “The sector realises that it needs to change after working in the same way for many years. Businesses need a solution that gives them productivity and can cut time by up to 50 per cent, which Roxtec’s products can offer. My role involves working with customers to understand them and their values and, if that fits in with our products and core values, then we can work together to find the right solution for them.”

One area where Ross anticipates growth is the cable and pipe transit systems for cabinets that Roxtec manufactures as an alternative to traditional cable glands, which do not offer the same level of area efficiency.

He said: “We can create modular systems off site and then take them onto a site, and that is where we see massive gains for our customers, but we need to work to change perceptions about moving away from traditional methods. Customers see us as a solutions provider when it comes to cables and pipes but, when it comes to cabinets, they do not always know that we can provide a better sealing solution. However, Roxtec has done some fantastic work in this area with Sellafield recently and we are in talks with other customers. We are also trying to get the word out through our CPD seminars and lunch and learn events.”

Ross said a key benefit of using Roxtec is the Roxtec Transit Designer software, which enables users to select the right sealing solution and design hundreds of cable and pipe transits in just a few minutes. He said the software has become so popular it now has 20,000 users worldwide helping companies reduce risk, improve safety and save engineering time.

Roxtec entered the marketplace in 1990 and is now active in more than 80 markets worldwide. The British subsidiary of the £173million Swedish group recently reported a record financial year with turnover surpassing £6million for the first time.
