TheisCraft Completes Controls & Modular Wiring at Hyatt’s Great Scotland Yard Hotel

Modular Wiring - Great Scotland Yard Hotel - Lighting Controls

TheisCraft- Great Scotland Yard Hotel

TheisCraft are proud to be involved with the fabulous new Great Scotland Yard Hotel. We have supplied a bespoke Lighting Controls and Modular Wiring system for the Front of House and Back of House areas.

This Grade II listed building is located in the St James’s area of Westminster served as the Metropolitan Police HQ between 1829 and 1890 and was made famous thanks to the novels of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Charles Dickens.

Following a £75M renovation project the building has been converted into 152 Guest Rooms including 22 Suites and the adjoining Town House. The design is a quintessentially quirky twist on British classic, so expect the unexpected – no two rooms are the same. Owned by the Yusuff Ali Med A-led Lulu Group based in Abu Dhabi and operated by Hyatt as part of their Unbound collection.

TheisCraft’s Modular Wiring delivers power to Guest Rooms for lighting, mini bar, TV and sockets. Also power and control to shaver points with timed control for underfloor heating and towel rails.

Every Guest Room has its own Room Controller panel so it’s managed independently. Presence detection brings the room into life on entry with a pre-programmed welcome scene. Guests can set the mood of the room using the bespoke wall plates managed by the functionality in the Room Controller. Software has been written to meet the sequence of operations specified by Hyatt:

  • Identify a generator signal so in the event of a power failure the hotel’s BMS system communicates with the Room Control Software which reduces the load in the Guest Suites to minimise power usage and turns on the emergency lighting. This avoids a complete power shut down which is better for the occupants.

  • The separate Town House, ideal for visiting dignitaries and celebrities who often travel with their own staff, has its own bespoke DALI based software system. EG if a guest enters a hallway the stair lighting will automatically come on, however if a staff member enters the hallway through a staff door the stair lighting won’t turn on, staff will activate local controls to turn lights on. This avoids VIPs being disturbed

Standard King Guest Room panels are switching and all the LED accent lighting is controlled using 1-10V. In the Suites the panels manage the lighting using the DALI protocol.

Front of House panels incorporate 1-10V, DALI and phased dimmed feature lighting across all public areas including reception, corridors, bars, restaurants, gym and exterior lighting. All Back of House areas are DALI pluggable LCM with PIR presence / absence detection.

All areas are controlled by our Head End PC and TheisCraft panels are located in every Guest Room and on every corridor.

Another successful hotel project from the TheisCraft Team.
